Road accidents claim five lives

Five people including two children and a woman died in two separate road accidents

LAHORE: At least five people, including two children and a woman, died in two separate road accidents in the provincial metropolis on Friday.

Police said that rickshaw driver Mukhtar, 45, Sumaira, 25 and a child lost their lives when a tractor collided with their vehicle near Karok Ghatti. Another victim identified as Maqboola Bibi suffered fractured legs.

Eight killed, 548 injured in accidents

In another incident in Kahna, a father and his son were killed. Police said that they were on the way home on a motorcycle when they hit an electric pole. As a result, the victims fell and suffered injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. Police said that the accident occurred due to speeding.

In April this year, at least four young men, two of them brothers, died in an accident in Cavalry Ground. The victims were going to the market at night when their car overturned due to speeding, said police.
