Nisar has to be treated like a child: Shehbaz

At end of term, the CM inaugurates multiple health initiatives

LAHORE: Calling the outspoken senior party leader and former interior minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan immature, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that because of “Nisar’s child-like attitude he has to be pacified every now and then.”

While talking to a private TV channel on Wednesday, Shehbaz said Nisar back in 1988 was a close friend of Nawaz Sharif.
The chief minister was travelling to Rajanpur for an inauguration ceremony.
To explain the extent of Nisar’s friendship with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, he said that Sharif used to scold him on Nisar’s complaint adding that he was Sharif’s friend first and later became his friend.

On a question whether he will be able to appease him this time around, he replied “I hope all will go well.”

Later in the day Shehbaz inaugurated different healthcare projects in District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital Rajanpur.
Afterwards the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif went to Bahawalpur and inaugurated development projects completed with a cost of Rs6 billion. He inaugurated drug testing lab and inspected its various sections.
Talking on the occasion, he said that drug testing labs will ensure provision of quality medicines adding that genuine medicines will be available in private and public sector hospitals.
Those who are engaged with the business of spurious drugs are an enemy of humanity and no one will be allowed to play with the lives of the people through fake and substandard medicines, he added.

He also inaugurated e-Khidmat Centre and said that by virtue of this facility services of different government departments have been arranged under one roof.
“Development and prosperity of southern Punjab is very dear to me and special attention has been given for its progress,” said Shehbaz after inaugurating ICU, cardiology centre, kidney and regional blood centres in Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
During the visit he also inspected different sections of the hospital and went to the wards where he inquired after the health of the patients.
Shehbaz highlighted that best machines have been procured and world-class operation theatre along with quality treatment facility for cardiac patients have been arranged.
It is pertinent to share that doctors have already conducted first cardiac operation here, he added.

“It is for the first time that small farmers have been given interest-free loans.”
If an opportunity of public service is accorded by the voters in future, more mega health projects will be initiated for Bahawalpur, he added.

The Punjab CM also inaugurated University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences established with a cost of Rs2.94 billion.
More than 1,500 students have been given admissions in the university and it is hoped that local livestock sector will be the direct beneficiary of this new initiative, Shehbaz maintained.
The purpose of this university, spanning over 1,000 acres, is to promote livestock sector on modern lines, he observed.
With the cost of around Rs178 million Child Protection & Welfare Bureau in Bahawalpur also saw the light of day. Separate hostels have been constructed for girls and boys.
On the occasion, the CM said that purpose of setting up this bureau is to provide necessary protection to the unattended and neglected children. All the expenses relating to upkeep of such children are borne by the Punjab government, he added.

He also inaugurated the project of establishment of industrial estate in Bahawalpur as well. Rs2.5 billion will be spent on it in two phases.
He also said airplane will be used for transporting specialist doctors and surgeons to Multan, Bahawalpur and other remote areas if the Almighty Allah provided the next opportunity.
“This area is very dear to me and more development schemes will be planned for it after the elections and medical and technical university will also be established in Bahawalpur,” he said.
We have served the masses and unique development schemes have been introduced for all walks of life. Now no one will ever succeed to give spurious medicines to the people as drug testing labs have been established by the Punjab government, concluded the chief minister.
