ZHOB: Cattle smuggling from Zhob and other areas of the province has increased the prices of goat meat.

The cattle is being smuggled regularly through Dera Ismail Khan, crossing all check posts along the way, which is why the prices of cattle in Zhob and other areas of the province have increased by Rs100 to Rs750 per kilogramme. The continuous smuggling has created a shortage of cattle.

Thousands of cattle smuggled daily

The Zhob civil society members have appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan, Commander Southern Command, Balochistan IG FC to take notice of this grave issue.

They said that since long goats from Zhob were being smuggled out of the province. Due to the negligence of the district administration, traders had become fearless in smuggling cattle on a daily basis.
“Neither checking is being conducted at the check posts, nor has the district administration taken any steps to stop smuggling,” they added.

“While there is a complete ban on cattle coming from DI Khan and other areas to Zhob, “the district administration appears to be quite fond of DI Khan”, they said.

The civil society members demanded imposition of Section 144 on smuggling of cattle and strict vigilance at check posts of Frontier Corps and the police.
