May I propose a lifetime ban?

Given Dr Amir’s he has sparked as many controversies as can be counted

LAHORE: In a laudable move Pemra has taken action against Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain on his television show that discussed a controversial religious matter raised by a phone caller. Given Dr Amir’s past record of over a decade of TV shows, he has sparked as many controversies as can be counted. For instance, his infamous video where he hurls profanities on camera, while recording for a religious show with religious clerics sitting around.

When it is not for the controversies, Amir Liaquat is seen defaming state institutions in his talk shows or rewarding the lower-middle class with household goods for performing rather belittling acts. Shockingly, despite a history of innumerable bans and media notices, Amir Liaquat has been repeatedly welcomed by big media houses often to hold top managerial positions. Since Pemra’s notice is for a period of 30 days, it is highly likely that he will once again be seen spreading crassness on TV. Hence, it is about time that authorities put a lifetime ban on his TV appearances or any arrangement that allows for his direct or indirect interaction with the audience.
