It does not matter how coveted the actor is, he needs to face the repercussions for his actions
ISLAMABAD: Actor Morgan Freeman is the latest Hollywood actor who has been accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by 12 women. In the era of #MeToo movement that escalated after the Harvey Weinstein debacle, it is indeed a milestone that women’s voices are being heard. This is evident by the fact that Freeman immediately chose to apologise after the allegations were made public instead of resorting to accusing the women of defamation — an approach we Pakistanis are more familiar with.
However, it is also important for Hollywood not to consider his apology as justice to the trauma these women faced and instead ensure that a fair trial is conducted against Freeman. It doesn’t matter how coveted the actor may be, he needs to face the repercussions for his actions.
