LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed called on Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) senior central leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Saturday.
Corruption in the Saaf Pani Scheme has come to the fore. Shehbaz Sharif has been violating the rights of the people of Punjab for the past 10 years, expressed Elahi.
During the final days of his government, he is attaching his name to projects which were ready during the tenure of my government. However, the people know the truth, he exclaimed.
Shehbaz’s true colours have been exposed; citizens have been looted in the name of sasta atta, tandoor, Ashiana Housing Scheme, Quaid-i-Azam Solar Power and several other dodgy schemes. In comparison to this, the objective of our politics is to serve the common man, providing him with basic facilities, he stressed.
Elahi stated that when Pakistan Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar visited different institutions in Punjab, people wept and cried while narrating stories of oppression. “Further, the facility of free-of-charge medicines and healthcare, promised and ensured by my government, was abolished.”
We served the people for five years and ensured a network of development projects to provide citizens with basic facilities.
If given another opportunity, we will work day and night, harder than before, to restart the process of development; something Shehbaz has deprived the people of for ten years, he stated.
In the duration of this time, people will surely have come to know, who is infringing on their rights, and who is serving them sincerely, he concluded.
