Sikandar alias Akash Mallah, a leader of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Movement (JSQM), has returned home after 20 months of alleged illegal detention along with another detainee Noor Muhammad Khaskheli. Their counsel informed a bench of the High Court of Sindh of this development and the bench disposed of the petition challenging the alleged illegal detention as “infructuous”.
Mallah went missing on October 30, 2009 when he was going to offer his Friday prayers. The petition was heard time to time by the SHC and during this time, his relatives also filed a petition before the Supreme Court. Feeling the pressure, the captors released the two men.
On Thursday, Syed Khalid Shah advocate appeared for the petitioner, Ali Anwar, Mallah’s brother, and told the court that he has returned to his hometown. The bench was informed that Noor Muhammad was also released.
