PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak's wife Amira Khattak was offloaded from a flight heading to the United States as the Computerised National Identity Card she presented to the immigration authorities did not count as a travel document.

Amira holds a US passport and was in transit to the country by an Emirates flight. At the immigration clearance, she produced the CNIC as her travel document, however, it was not categorised as a proper documentation.

She was offloaded not possessing the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), Pakistani passport or a US visa.

In 2017, prominent religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel was offloaded from a Canada-bound flight at Dubai airport, Express News reported.

Maulana Jameel was bound to travel to Toronto on Emirates flight EK-241 with former Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afridi to raise funds for Shahid Afridi Foundation.

According to media reports, Afridi said security officials were directed by the airline to offload Jameel over security clearance issues. Making strides in the field of philanthropy, Shahid Afridi Foundation won 3G Critics’ Choice Best Upcoming Charity of the Year 2016 at the Global Good Governance awards in Istanbul.
