Three sentenced to death for killing cops

Prosecution tells court that accused their accomplices gunned down Police Inspector and Constable during operation

RAHIM YAR KHAN: An anti-terrorism court awarded death sentence to three accused and life term to nine other co-accused for their involvement in murdering police officials in Rahim Yar Khan. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Justice Bashir Ahmed.

The prosecution told the court that accused Bagga, Manghi, Makhna and their accomplices had gunned down Police Inspector Tabassum Virk and Constable Muhammad Idrees during an operation in Kacha area in 2010.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Bagga, Manghi and Makhna.

The judge awarded life term to nine co-accused, including Gullu, Bana, Afghani, Daleel and Qasim. However, the court acquitted Sohrab Khan and Suba Khan giving them the benefit of doubt.
