Woman's family accuse in-laws of killing her, in-laws claim she committed suicide

KARACHI: A woman and her infant son died on Wednesday after they fell from the rooftop of an eight-storey building in Dehli Colony under mysterious circumstances.

The incident took place in Delhi Colony Street's six within the limits of the Frere police station. The deceased woman and infant were identified as 22-year-old Rimsha, wife of Rizwan, and Abdul Hadi respectively. They died on the spot.

The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities from where they were handed over to their families for burial.

Around one-and-a-half years ago, Rimsha had a love marriage with Rizwan who is a teacher in Dubai.

Initially, the woman's in-laws reported that she committed suicide by jumping off the roof of the building along with her infant son. However, the woman's family blamed her in-laws for the incident. They alleged that her mother-in-law and others threw her off the roof due to a domestic quarrel.

A contingent of law enforcers reached the site following the incident to gather evidence. Police officials said that they were investigating whether the woman committed suicide or whether she was murdered.

No case was registered till the filing of this story.
