China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC), while responding to a news report titled “Pakistan puts off tax concession for Chinese operator of Gwadar Port” published in The Express Tribune, has said that COPHC has not requested additional incentives beyond the concession agreement. “It is our belief that clear, practicable and executable rules and regulations will not only benefit the concession holder and business inside the free zone, but also the general public of Pakistan,” it said. COPHC emphasised that it had been enjoying support and assistance of the business community, the federal and local government, the people of Pakistan and the media. “We will make our utmost efforts to develop Gwadar into a prosperous and new economic hub together with our Pakistan partners soon.”
