Salahuddin eyes success with Pakistan in England Tests

Middle-order batsman believes visitors are in good shape to put on a good show

ENGLAND: Young middle-order batsman Usman Salahuddin believes Pakistan team are in good shape heading into the challenging Test series against England.

Salahuddin, who scored 69 and remained not out during the first innings of the two-day tour match against Leicestershire, was happy with his performance.

“I want to thank my coaches for supporting me all the way,” said Salahuddin. “It is because of their efforts that I was able to perform well against Leicestershire.”

The 27-year-old, who has played 99 first-class matches, where he scored 6,329 runs at an average of 46.53, further added that in his point of view, the Sarfraz Ahmed-led unit have spent enough time in English conditions in order to perform in accordance with the expectations.

“We have had enough time to get acclimatised to the conditions,” he said. “We’ve already played three side matches and a solitary Test match against Ireland. Playing against Leicestershire was beneficial for us as playing conditions, here are similar to that in London.”
