Retiree lawmakers to receive same benefits as 22 grade-government officers
LAHORE: As per the news, retiring lawmakers will get to enjoy the same post-retirement perks equivalent to that of a 22 grade-government officer. Astonishingly, the National Assembly has passed a resolution without much disapproval from members of the opposition who in Pakistan consider it their due right to oppose proceedings by the ruling party members even when it is entirely unnecessary.
Further, the resolution would initiate the formation of a forum to oversee the provision of benefits to retired members. However, nothing has been stated about the budgetary implications of this resolution, especially in times when the government is already struggling to manage its finances.
