HYDERABABD:
A newly-wed couple was shot dead while the husband's sister was injured in an armed attack in Umerkot district on Saturday. The police say the incident seems to be an honour killing.

The couple was shot dead at their residence in Pithoro taluka near the Pithoro police station. Both victims sustained three gunshots each. Nasreen Rajput, the husband's sister, was also injured in the assault.
Abdul Aziz Rajput, brother of the slain man, told the media that his brother married without the consent of his wife's family three months ago. In an FIR registered at the Pithoro police station, Aziz accused the slain woman's brother, Adeel Rajput, of firing the gunshots. Asghar Ali Shah, Mohammed Iqbal, Ali Raza and an unidentified person have also been nominated in the FIR.

The assailants escaped after the incident but reportedly left behind the gun used in the crime. The police recovered the weapon and collected the bullet shells for forensic investigation. The suspects could not be arrested by Saturday evening.
