Two held for beating woman on road

Suspects sent to judicial custody; three killed in road accidents in capital

ISLAMABAD:
Police have arrested two men who allegedly beat up a woman in Sector F-11 Markaz due to conflict arising from a road incident on Friday night. The victim, a resident of Sector E-11, told the Salimar police that she was in her car along with her sister when another car hit their vehicle at a turn.

She alleged that the car’s driver and his fellow, identified as Muhammad Suhail and Mian Muhammad Aziz Babar, swore at her and beat her and dragged her.

The woman claims the two men kept swearing at her even after the arrival of a police patrol at the scene. “They beat me openly, dragged me from my hair, kicked me and kept swearing at me,” she maintained in her written complaint to the police.

Investigation officer, Sub-inspector Zahid Akhtar, said both the men were sent to judicial remand on Saturday.


Meanwhile, at least three people including a woman were killed in three separate road accidents in the capital.

According to the police, in one incident two motorcyclists were hit by a speeding bus on 9th Avenue which left one motorcyclist dead. Industrial area police have booked the bus driver but have not arrested him yet.

Furthermore, two casualties from two different road accidents were reported from areas of Sihala police. In one accident Rukhsana Bibi was hit by a speeding car at Sawan Camp and died of injuries while in another, Afraz Ahmed was hit by a tractor-trolley at DHA Valley. Cases have been registered against unidentified drivers in both these cases.

Moreover, two separate cases of attempted murder in the capital left three men injured, police said on Saturday. Koral police booked 10 men for allegedly attacking and injuring two men at Koral, while another man was shot and injured in Jhangi Syedan in Noon police jurisdiction.
