A protest was staged at the Arts Lobby of the University of Karachi (KU) against the Israeli aggression towards Palestinians. A large number of students and teachers participated in the protest.

Condemning the United States' move shifting its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the protesters chanted slogans such as 'Israel is unacceptable', 'Israel's aggression is unacceptable' and 'US embassy in Jerusalem is unacceptable'.

Speaking to the protesting students and teachers, Karachi University Teachers Society President Prof Dr Jameel Kazmi said inaction of world powers on Israeli aggression in Palestine had given birth to a humanitarian crisis. The Muslim world needs to unite against Israel, he said.

Pakistan, Turkey unite over Gaza violence

According to Dr Kazmi, the protesters' voices were not loud enough to be heard globally but when many such voices would combine, they might rattle the conscience of the world and awake the Muslim world and Organisation of Islamic Conference from slumber.

Prof Dr SM Talha said the KU teachers and students condemned the Israeli brutality in Palestine and demanded that the armies of Muslim countries be sent immediately to help the oppressed Palestinians. The US embassy has been shifted to Jerusalem in violation of the United Nations' resolutions, he said.

According to Dr Usama Shafiq, the protest showed that the faculty and students at KU had conscience. He added that martyrdom of more than 52 innocent Palestinians was proof of Israel's oppression. He saluted people of Palestine for their struggle against Israel's unjust occupation of their land.
