PARC, SAU sign MOU for agriculture 

The government is taking steps to convert Thar desert into grasslands for improvement of livelihoods, Chairman PARC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tando Jam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for development of agriculture and livestock in desert areas. PARC Chairman Yusuf Zafar and SAU Vice Chancellor Mujeebuddin Memon inked the agreement. Speaking on the occasion, Zafar said the government is taking steps to convert Thar desert into grasslands for improvement of livelihoods of the people.

“PARC is playing a vital role in research across the country and has initiated several programmes for the uplift of the sector,” he added. He informed that PARC Arid Zone Research Institute Umerkot had also organised a workshop on desertification that aimed at upgradation of the agriculture in arid zones. The government has allocated Rs529 million for the Arid Zone Research Institute.
