Attempt to attack gate of the consulate and burn US flag

LAHORE: Students belonging to Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (JJT) protested outside the US consulate in Lahore on Tuesday to protest against the decision of American President Donald Trump to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Carrying placards and banners, the activists chanted slogans against the US. The placards were inscribed with “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine”.

The protesters also attempted to attack the gate of the consulate and burnt the American flag.

They demanded the immediate closure of the US Embassy in Jerusalem, saying that this act has caused havoc and unrest among the Muslims of the world. They also termed the act of US President Donald Trump as unfair and unjust.

Leaders of the IJT condemned brutal atrocities against Muslims in Gaza and demanded the immediate closure of the US embassy in Israel.

A senior leader of the student wing said that the rulers of Muslim countries need to display the dignity of their belief by speaking the truth. “If this oppression is not put to an end immediately, we will organise a sit-in at the US consulate. The silence of international institutions that ensure peace is alarming.”

The US inaugurated its embassy in Jerusalem. The inauguration witnessed a massive protest by Palestinians which turned violent when Israeli troops opened fire and drops bombs through drones.
