The assembly was scheduled to hold winding up speech of Finance Minister Miftah Ismail on budget for the year 2018-19. The agenda of the House also included discussion on the charged expenditure which could not take place due to the death of the lawmaker.
Meanwhile glowing tribute was paid by the lawmakers in the Lower House to the late MNA Rajab Ali Baloch who had passed away on Sunday after protracted illness.
The lawmakers said that his services for upholding democracy in the country would always be remembered. They were of the opinion that the deceased lawmaker was a man of principle, dedication, commitment, hard work, honesty, and integrity
Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada while paying tribute to the late MNA said that he was very good friend and a very refined politician. Another MNA Shaheen Shafiq while remembering the late politician said that she never heard from him any bad word against women.
Similarly, Fauzia Hameed said Baloch was a rare personality and he left behind so many pleasant memories. Mian Mannan said the late MNA was a very sophisticated person. Jafar Iqbal was of the view that the deceased person always remained in contact with the people of his constituency and tried to resolve their issues amicably. He said Baloch was a very courageous person and despite the fact that he was suffering from a very serious disease he cast his vote during the election of the Senate.
National Assembly clears bill to prevent smuggling of migrants from Pakistan
The Speaker National Assembly did not allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI’s) parliamentarians to talk on the matter pertaining to controversial interview of former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif regarding the Mumbai attack.
Shirin Mazari when given floor after expressing her condolence for the late MNA said that it is the matter of great importance to talk on the controversial interview. She said the country is being pushed to destruction and you (the speaker) are not allowing us to talk on it.
Shahryar Afridi also attempted to talk on the issue and said conspiracies are being hatched against Pakistan. However, he too was not allowed to talk on it by the speaker. The sitting of the House was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday at 10:30am to continue debate on the proposed budget.
