Justice Saqib Nisar visits the jail, inspects facilities

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar expressed satisfaction on Saturday on the overall situation of Central Jail, Karachi.

He said compared to other provinces, the arrangements are very good and also appreciated the medical and meal facilities satisfactory.

Justice Nisar visited the jail and inspected the medical facilities, kitchens and prisoners barracks.

Prisoners and under-trial prisoners spoke to the CJP about their complaints. They said that despite completing their jail sentences, they were still being kept at the prison. The CJP assured them that if their sentences are over, they will be released soon.

Justice Nisar directed the jail authorities to present a report regarding prisoners whose term at jail has ended but are still incarcerated.

The CJP checked the food given to prisoners and tasted some himself as well. Justice Faisal Arab did the same.

The CJP said the arrangements at the jail are better than other provinces. He observed that none of the prisoners complained about the jail administration.

Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon, the home secretary and other officials were also present on the occasion.
