KARACHI: Karachi's district administration on Saturday gave conditional permission to the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) to hold a jalsa on May 13.

The additional deputy commissioner for the city's deputy commissioner East gave permission to PTM's core committee members including Sana Ejaz and Abdul Waheed Mehsud.

However, the permission is based on 16 terms and conditions.

The jalsa will be held on the ground situated behind Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth.

As per the terms and conditions, the PTM will not use loud speakers to deliver any speech against the ideology of Pakistan, state of Pakistan, its institutions and any religion.

Moreover, no political, sectarian, objectionable activity, criticism of institutions shall be allowed which may cause or create hatred amongst the various sects or hurt the feelings of the people.

Effigy flags of any political or religious party shall not be burnt while there shall be no display of firearms.

Furthermore, the use of decks, speakers or sound amplifiers shall comply with provisions of West Pakistan Amplifier Ordinance 1965.

No main road obstruction and disturbance shall be caused to the general public.

The organiser will be held responsible for any harm or damage caused to any person or property during the jalsa.



Furthermore, the organiser is solely responsible for any mishap and will have to face the legal consequences. The internal security of the programme is the responsibility of the organisers.

That the applicant (permit holder) shall abide by the orders of administration and other law enforcement agencies.

The organiser shall personally be responsible to ensure that the timings are strictly adhered to and that situation remains normal.

Jirga expresses hope of yielding positive results in talks with PTM

The programme will end latest by 6:30pm while the organisers shall have to do video recording of the political gathering and hand it over to the district administration.

The violation of the permission whereof shall be seriously viewed and action will be taken against the organisers within the relevant laws.

The organiser will be held responsible for the violation of terms and conditions of NOC.

This NOC is liable to be cancelled any time without assigning any reasons and prior notice.
At least three separate cases have been registered against the PTM in Karachi’s different police stations including Bin Qasim, Shah Latif and Manghopir for hate and anti-state speeches.
