KARACHI:

A woman in a wedding dress left her nikkah reception midway just to catch a glimpse of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at their Karachi jalsa on Saturday.

"I've left my nikkah reception so I could see him [Bilawal Bhutto]," she claimed.

She said that her father, soon-to-be husband and entire family have been calling her nonstop and are furious at her.

The bride was accompanied by her cousins to the jalsa.

"My love for Bilawal compelled me to leave my nikkah midway to be here and I'm loving it," she said.

"I consider myself to be a hardcore PPP supporter as I've never missed a jalsa ever," she claimed.

Karachi braces for a major power show by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) today, five days after activists of both parties tested their muscles in violent clashes at the Hakim Said Ground in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The parties clashed over the venue of their May 12 rallies, both wanting to claim Hakim Said Ground as their own.

After the violence, leaders of both parties decided to hold their events at different venues. The leadership of both parties – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Imran Khan – will address the gatherings.

In this regard, leaders of both parties are trying to draw more people in order to make their events a success.

The police apprehended at least 10 workers belonging to both parties on Wednesday in connection with the clash.

An FIR was registered on behalf of the state against several leaders of the parties, including PTI leaders Ali Haider Zaidi, Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Arif Alvi and PPP leaders Waqar Mehdi and Najmi Alam, as well as 600 to 700 workers of both parties.

Haji Atiya | 5 years ago | Reply @Why: Geez...like Bilawal is a far cry from someone like IK in his heydays, but I disagree with your comment to the extent that many women have secret crushes or rave about celebrities though they ultimately get married to someone ordinary. Same with men.
