The farewell ceremony held at a local hotel was attended by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, members of his cabinet, legislators and senior members of civil administration.
Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Haider said that Dr Ejaz Munir has become a role model for the civil servants for the kind of work he has done to ensure good governance and effective administration during his stint as chief secretary.
He said any government that has officers like Ejaz Munir never fails to come up to the expectations of the masses. Moreover, Dr Ejaz Munir served in the AJK during the transitional period and he had effectively helped the new government in resolving very critical issues, the PM added.
Haider stressed on the duty of civil servants and said they have crucial role to play in effective and result-oriented functioning of the government adding that “public servants are first accountable to the people representatives and then to the masses.”
The prime minister further praised Munir’s efforts while serving in the office and said he made significant contributions to resolve issues like constitutional reforms, water use charges and improvement in service structure of civil bureaucracy in Kashmir. The outgoing Chief Secretary Ejaz Munir on recalling the time in AJK said he will never forget the 13 months of his life that he spent in the state, furthermore, the prime minister, his cabinet and other senior officials of his government worked with him like a team.
