LAHORE: Considering the challenges related to food security, climatic conditions and water scarcity, it’s time to embrace more technologically advanced approaches to agriculture, said Monsanto ASEAN Vice President Lance Wang on Thursday.

He expressed these views during a talk on “International Adoption of Biotech Crops”, hosted in collaboration with the Forman Christian College University. Students and faculty from the department of biological sciences covered a wide array of topics including crop biotechnology, precision agriculture and information and communications based solutions for farmers.

In addition to ensuring food security for future generations, modern agriculture will be central to augmenting farmer profitability and competitiveness, he expressed.

It is encouraging to see students actively participate in discussions pertaining to emerging issues, while seeking solutions through adopting biotechnology for agricultural improvement and environmental preservation, said Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr Kauser Abdullah Malik.
