SHC ordered the removal of the Toll Plaza at the Jamshoro bypass, however hefty taxes are still extracted
HYDERABAD: Not long ago the Sindh High Court ordered the removal of the Toll Plaza at the Jamshoro bypass, terming it illegal and unconstitutional. In line with that a further order was passed by the court and the National Highway Authority was directed not to collect tax at the illegal Toll Plaza. The court also suspended the recovery of toll tax at the Toll Plaza and bypass road. The order further said that there would be deployment of Motorway police and at least three cars and five motorcycles on the bypass road, which was from Hyderabad to facilitate smooth travelling of people to avoid any disturbance.
However, unfortunately the same said Toll Plaza has been in operation for the past one year and has been charging a hefty amount from the motorists illegally.
Hyderabad and Jamshoro are considered to be twin cities and the latter comprises four major professional universities due to which a high number of people often travel frequently back and forth on a daily basis. Everyday hundreds of students, families and professionals travel from Hyderabad to Jamshoro and face dreadful harassment by untrained and illiterate staff of illegal and unconstitutional Toll Plaza. Normally huge gridlock situation appears at the bypass because many transport vehicles are stopped to collect money by unlawful means by the illegal Toll Plaza staff. The same situation exists from Hyderabad to Tando Jam.
I request the higher authorities to take immediate cognisance of the prevailing situation and make serious efforts to stop this blunt violation of orders of the High Court.
