Following immense success in Swat, a two-day science festival for schoolchildren kicked off in Mardan on Wednesday. The festival was organised by the Mardan district government, taleemi jirga, and the Pakistan Alliance for Maths and Science.
The festival was inaugurated by District Nazim Himayat Ullah Mayar, Naib Nazim Asad Ali, District Education Officer (DEO) Female Samina Ghani and DEO Male Ijaz Ali.
The festival was held to spark the love for science and discovery amongst students in the region, and to promote a better quality of learning in government schools.
Over 10,000 students from more than 200 government and private schools in the Mardan district participated in the festival, showcasing more than 300 science models, displaying their passion for science and technology, and introduced innovative concepts to the visitors.
A large number of girls also participated in the festival.
The students put up interactive displays and live experiments, some of which involved robotics, solar-based electric power, electricity-powered speed breakers among other projects.
