The petition stated that a bloodbath took place on May 12 and the day is observed as a black day. The petitioner, Iqbal Kazmi, also prayed upon the court to cancel the permission granted to both political parties for holding rallies on May 12.
Earlier this week PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari blamed PTI for the incident at Hakeem Saeed ground but invited it to hold its rally at the venue.
The ground turned into a battlefield on May 7 after the workers of the two parties clashed to seek its control.
Both the parties planned to hold a rally on May 12 at the same venue which lies in the heart of the city’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood.
