Iqbal narrowly escaped assassination bid on Sunday

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif visited hospitalised Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to inquire about his health on Tuesday.
Nawaz made his way to the provincial capital from Islamabad amid heavy security. Following the meeting, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid prayed for Iqbal's early recovery.
Iqbal is currently receiving medical treatment at Lahore's Services Hospital after he was fired upon during a corner meeting in Narowal on Sunday night.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was exiting a political gathering in his constituency when a suspect opened fire at him. Grazing his elbow, the bullet lodged itself in the interior minister's abdomen area. Iqbal was moved to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following two surgeries early Monday morning.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was flown to Lahore amid heavy security after receiving initial treatment at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in Narowal. He was received by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others upon his arrival in the provincial capital.

Suspect affiliated with Tehreek-e-Labbaik
The would-be assassin of the interior minister is affiliated with Tehreek-e-Labbaik, a government official from Narowal confirmed on Monday. The preliminary report sent to the chief secretary of the provincial government by deputy commissioner Narowal, stated that the man “showed his affiliation to Tehreek-e-Labbaik”.
The attacker, Abid Hussain, shot at Iqbal from a distance of 15 yards as he was leaving a corner meeting.
