FAISALABAD: Progress has been achieved to enhance direct exports from Faisalabad to United Kingdom after the successful visit of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) trade delegation to UK, said FCCI President Shabbir Hussain Chawla.

He said that the delegates had successful negotiations with the business community of Manchester, London Birmingham and Bradford. As most of the delegates were serious businessmen, hence, they focused on their business related issues, while three MOUs were also signed to augment the bilateral trade relations between FCCI and various trade organisations of UK.

He said that his main focus was on image building of Pakistan during this visit. Chawla explained that Pakistan in general and Faisalabad in particular is a very peaceful city where foreign investors could invest for mutual benefits.

The FCCI president said that exporters of Faisalabad are working for popular international brands; however, they should also introduce their own brands, which will play a pivotal role in building soft image of Pakistan and Faisalabad.

He also informed that a major expo will be held in Bradford and hoped that exporters of Faisalabad should set up their dedicated pavilion in the exhibition. He was of the view that a single visit is not enough to foster lasting relations; hence they should continue to send delegations to further strengthen ties.

FCCI former president Suhail Bin Rasheed said that the chamber has started sending trade delegation by financing the trips from 2015, instead of availing the concessional facility of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

He termed the visit to UK as successful, adding that the Consular General of London himself invited him and offered to arrange their meeting with businessmen of London.
