Police arrest three TTP members in Chakwal

Arrested men confess to attacking and looting NATO supply trucks, suicide jacket and explosive material recovered.

CHAKWAL:
Chakwal police on Tuesday arrested three members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and revealed that the arrested men had confessed to attacking NATO oil supply tankers.

District Police Officer (DPO) Chakwal, Mohsin Naqvi said that the three men, Ali Imran, Aizaz and Shujauddin were arrested when police had stopped them to search their vehicle.

Police recovered a suicide jacket and explosive material from the vehicle.

The three men confessed to attacking and looting Nato contrainers in Pindi Ghep, Tala Gang, Sangjani, Waziristan and Nowshera.

Police have obtained their physical remand from the Anti-Terrorism Court.

Nato supply trucks and oil tankers are targets of frequent attacks in Pakistan blamed on insurgents attempting to disrupt supplies for the 140,000 US-led international troops fighting the Taliban in neighbouring Afghanistan. Most supplies and equipment required by coalition troops in Afghanistan are shipped through Pakistan, although US troops increasingly use alternative routes through central Asia.
