PML-N attitude led to creation of BAP: CM Bizenjo

Says party will fight for rights of the people

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has said that the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has been established to struggle for the development and prosperity of the province.

“The flag of the party reflects protection of the rights of all communities, including Baloch, Pashtoon, Hazara, Christians, Hindus and settlers, living in Balochistan,” said Chief Minister Bizenjo while addressing a BAP’s flag-hoisting ceremony on Sunday.

Party founder former senator Saeed Ahmed Hashmi, ex-minister for state Jam Kamal, Senator Nasibullah Bazai, Prince Ali Ahmed Ahmedzai, Dr Ruqayia Saeed Hashmi, Barrister Syed Hasnain Hashmi, Sardarzada Dostain Khan Domki, Faiq Ali Jamali, Zafar Qambrani  and other leaders were also present at the ceremony.
He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other national level parties ignored Balochistan and its people. “BAP has been formed due to the PML-N top leadership’s dictatorial attitude,” the CM said.

He said that the PML-N leadership never took the province into confidence on any issue and just sent orders from Lahore and Raiwind.

CM vows to thwart anti-state conspiracies

Bizenjo said, “The new party will protect the rights of the people of Balochistan and take the province’s share from Islamabad which would be spent on development and prosperity of the province.”

He said that despite the political change in Islamabad, the federal government had not changed its attitude towards Balochistan as it stopped the funds allocated in the federal budget for development projects.
He said that last National Finance Commission (NFC) Award was given by THE PPP government and after that no NFC Award was announced by the PML-N government.

“Three smaller provinces- Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh- protested and staged a walkout from the meeting that was deciding shares of the provinces,” the chief minister said, adding that in Rs5,000 billion federal budget, the Centre would allocate just Rs300 million, instead of giving the province its due share of Rs1,000 billion.
He said that Islamabad also ignored Balochistan in the mega CPEC project and no development project under CPEC was launched in the province, adding that the federal government only cooperated with Punjab and ignored the other provinces.
On the law and order situation in the province, the chief minister said that lot of improvement had been made in the security situation which “is a good sign”.

He said that our law enforcement agencies, including the Pakistan Army, have restored peace and rendered great sacrifices in the process.
He said that the next budget of the province would be people-friendly as the government “is aiming to provide maximum relief to the common man”.

“We are including collective development schemes in the coming budget,” Bizenjo said.
Taking over the podium, Hashmi said, “The newly-formed party will meet the expectations of the people of Balochistan and struggle for the development and prosperity of it.”
