Naeem Bukhari, a prominent lawyer who represented the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in several cases, has denied a news report which claims that he was pushed onto a railway platform in London in an 'attempted murder'.

Bukhari told a private news channel on Sunday that he had fainted and fell onto the platform after feeling dizzy.

It was reported that London police were treating the incident involving the PTI leader as an attempted murder with the law enforcement agency on the lookout for a man who followed him to the Marble Arch Underground Station.

The suspect allegedly pushed Bukhari onto the platform and subsequently he sustained serious injuries.

“The incident took place on  May 1 and not April 27 which is being reported in the news,” said Bukhari, who is currently being treated at a London hospital.

“No one threw me onto the platform and I fell flat on my face on the platform,” he added. “I was dizzy and fainted, the next thing I know I’m waking up in a hospital bed,” Bukhari said.

“I’m still recovering from the injuries and hopefully I’ll be discharged on May 8,” he said.

“I hit my head but thankfully I don’t have any brain injuries after my MRI test, but four of my ribs are damaged and it’ll take some time to recover from it,” the renowned lawyer said.

Rumours began to circulate on social media that Bukhari was in a drunken state and was thrashed outside a Pall Mall nightclub.

However, a London police official refuted these claims.
