QUETTA: Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Hasil Khan Bizenjo has urged all stakeholders, who believe in supremacy of democracy, to come forward and play their due role in ending confrontation between the country’s institution and political parties.
The federal minister stated this while speaking to media after delivering a cheque of Rs900,000 on behalf of Federal Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb to Quetta Press Club President Razaur Rehman.

Democracy never ran its course due to outside influence: Hasil Bizenjo

Hasil Bizenjo, who is also the president of National Party,  said, “Political parties have to change their attitude in order to help democracy flourish in the country.”
He said that the country’s image on international level was not improving as efforts were underway to declare Pakistan a defaulter.

Pointing towards the attitude of US President Donald Trump, the minister said, “One can easily understand that the events occurring in Afghanistan and other countries will affect the situation in Pakistan, one way or the other.”
In view of this critical situation, Hasil Bizenjo urged all national institutions to come forward and end confrontation through dialogue.

He said that he had stated earlier that the governments, past and present, had done nothing to solve the problems of the state.

“All institutions of the state should sit together and find out a solution to the state’s problems,” suggested Hasil Bizenjo, stressing that all stockholders must be sincere and honest in initiating the dialogue process.

He said that it was against the spirit of democracy that political parties decline holding talks with other parties. “I am not in favour of the statement of Asif Zardari that he is not ready even to go in heaven with one party,” Hasil Bizenjo said, adding that such an attitude was not good in politics.
To a question, he said that there was no reason for not holding general elections on time. “There is no war-like situation or any emergency in the country that could delay upcoming elections,” he said, adding that on-time elections would be in the interest of the country.
Hasil Bizenjo said that his party was ready for an election alliance and seat-to-seat adjustment with other political parties in Balochistan in the election as was done in the past.

He said that all political parties had started their election campaigns in Balochistan and other parts of the country and National Party had also convened its central committee meeting in Quetta to discuss elections and take other decisions regarding elections.

He said that if former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would visit Balochistan during his election campaign, the National Party, as an ally of the PML-N, would welcome him.
