CJP takes suo moto notice of media persons being manhandled by Islamabad police

Journalists were holding a rally on World Press Freedom Day, stopped from marching towards Constitution Avenue

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday took suo moto notice of manhandling of journalists by Islamabad police in the federal capital's D-Chawk area.

Justice Nisar also sought a report from Advocate General (AG) Islamabad regarding the incident.



During the prompt hearing of the notice, journalists who appeared before the bench complained against the high-handedness of the police.

A written order was also passed by the CJP to AG Islamabad for filing of a report on the incident.

Journalists were holding a rally on World Press Freedom Day and were stopped by law enforcers from marching towards Constitution Avenue.
