'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' is getting a TV remake and it's totally PHAT

If you're one of those people who enjoyed movies like Dil To Pagal Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, you're going to love to know that Karan Johar's famous 2001 film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is getting a TV remake, reported Hindustan Times. The series will be called Dil Hi Toh Hai.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Ekta Kapoor will be making the TV adaptation of the film. A source revealed, "Bijoy Anand, who played Kajol’s wayward fiancé in Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, has been cast to play Yashvardhan Raichand. The part will be finalised after a look test."

Ekta also took to Twitter hinting at the upcoming project.



Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a story of two sons, one of whom is adopted. The family falls apart due to some problems, however, they soon realise that their bond of love is as strong as blood ties.

The original cast of the film included Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan while Rani Mukerji made a guest appearance.


Lately, Ekta has been focusing on her digital platform. Reports suggest that she is planning a fantasy drama series for her digital medium that takes inspiration from hit TV show, Game of Thrones. An insider said, "The series will not be an official adaption but Ekta's project will have the feel and look of the medieval drama."
