Mainstreaming FATA key to its long-term prosperity

PESHAWAR: Bringing the tribal areas into the national mainstream is key to its long-term progress and prosperity.

This was stated by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a D-type hospital in the Frontier Region (FR) Darazanda on Wednesday.

Jhagra said that patriotic tribesmen and security forces have rendered tremendous sacrifices for peace, sovereignty and integrity of the country.

Now, he said, the time had come to reciprocate their sacrifices and take concrete measures to redress their grievances.

He said concrete measures would be taken on a priority basis for the development of the health sector in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) along with the provision of modern health and education facilities to tribesmen to improve the public health facilities and standards of education in the region.

The governor also assured the tribal elders of addressing their grievances without any delay.

IGFC Major General Abdul Latif said that the D-type hospital had cost them Rs184.529 million.

Earlier, Jhagra planted a tree within the premises of the hospital. Dera Ismail Khan Division Commissioner, IGFC, ACS Fata tribal elders and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
