Federal government has announced funds for various projects in Karachi that are however unallocated
KARACHI: Unsurprisingly, the budget like always has enough for Karachi. But what is surprising this time around is that the federal government has announced funds for various projects in Karachi that are however unallocated and unimplemented yet. The question that then arises is how the government will ensure that the funds will be utilised only for the purpose they have been assigned for. Amid issues like corruption, funds’ embezzlement and inefficiency of the relevant ministries and departments, originating from poor governance, the idea to revamp the infrastructure of the city is undeniably the need of the time.
It is important for the federal government and the provincial government to coordinate over matters of governance and ensure that the funds allocated by the former are not only sufficient but are also spent on development projects.
