LAHORE: It is a pre-elections routine that opportunists ally themselves according to their individual interests but those who are filled with the passions of public-service stand firmly, said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday.

He was addressing a meeting of members of parliament and party workers belonging to Multan and Bahawalpur divisions in Islamabad on Monday.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, federal ministers, PML-N leaders, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and other party office-bearers also attended the meeting.

The chief minister said that those who have talked about eleven points, including education, health and agriculture in Lahore rally on Sunday, should first account for K-P. “Imran Khan has now realised about the public but where was he five years ago? The people will bury the politics of falsehood, lies, deceit, allegations and sit-in once and for all in the elections of 2018.

Shehbaz Sharif elected PML-N head

Imran’s meeting of 2018 was a failure from every respect as compared to the gathering of 2011, said Shahbaz. “The participation of locals was negligible and public passion was also missing.”

In this meeting, only the aspiring candidates of tickets brought the people along which is a proof of unsuccessful politics of Imran.

The chief minister said that due to the sit-ins, lockdown, civil disobedience and politics of anarchy, the visit of Chinese President to Pakistan was postponed. Resultantly, mega projects were delayed and obstructions were created in the development process.
