Strike of medical store owners entered fourth day

BAHAWALPUR: At least two people died due to unavailability of medicines in Bahawalpur on Monday. In the first incident, Shabbir Ahmad Maachi’s wife was admitted to Rajanpur Kalaan Hospital as she was suffering from high fever.

As there were not adequate medicines available in the health facility, she was referred to Sheikh Zayed Hospital but she could not survive and lost her life. Similarly, in Khanpur, Muhammad Javed, a student of Superior College and asthma patient died as he could not get a new inhaler due to strike of medical store owners.

The strike of medical store owners entered fourth day creating severe scarcity of medicines in the district. Chemist Association Bahawalpur staged a demonstration outside the Bahawal Victoria Hospital which was led by City President Shahid Hassan.

In Uch Sharif, chemist association also protested in favor of their demands.
