Making an effort: ‘Agriculture sector being upgraded’
The government has taken several measures for improvements within the sector

The agriculture sector is being upgraded along scientific lines to meet contemporary challenges, while also improving the financial condition of farmers, said Assistant Director Information Naveed Asmat Kohloon in a statement issued on Sunday. The government has taken several measures for improvements within the sector such as introducing special packages worth Rs212million, subsidies on fertilizers, interest-free loans, provision of cheap electricity to run tube wells and promoting certified seeds, he elaborated. Agriculture growth for this year remains to be 3.81%, which is the highest it has been for the past 13 years, he added.
