Victim succumbs to wounds on way to PIMS

 ISLAMABAD  : A retired army officer was shot dead allegedly by one of his friends at the latter’s house in Bahria Town phase-III, Islamabad on Saturday, according to the police

Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khurram Kiani belonged to the batch of PMA-78 and was working at the Defence Housing Authority in Rawalpindi. The police said that Kiani was at the residence of his friend, Imran Waseem, when he allegedly opened fire on him around 19:15PM.

Lohi Bher police told The Express Tribune that the deceased and the suspect were discussing some matters when Waseem reportedly opened fire on Kiani after exchange of harsh words.

Kiani who had received a bullet to his wrist reportedly dialed another friend’s number and sought help. The other friend then reached the spot. The victim was being shifted to PIMS, but he died due to excessive bleeding on way to hospital.

Lohi Bher police said they had arrested the suspect, who initially told police that his name was Bilal but it was later established as Imran Waseem. The suspect is in police custody while the body has been shifted to PIMS.
