Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said on Saturday that in response to ‘many messages’ sent from deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, it has been conveyed that "we will not even go to paradise with you".

Speaking during a party meeting in Lahore, Zardari ruled out any political alliance with the ruling party, which he added only came to power because he let them form the government, Express News reported.

The PPP leader said Sharif was not ideologically democratic, adding that, “he thinks of himself whereas we care about the country.”

No government can be formed without PPP, says Zardari

Nawaz Sharif was only allowed to form the government for the continuity of democratic system in the country. “But, he played games with Pakistan People's Party after coming into power and became Mughal-e-Azam … now he sends us messages but we have told them that we won’t even go to paradise with them,” he added.

The former PM is busy getting the Adiala jail cleaned, without knowing whether he would be sent there or to Karachi’s Landhi jail, said the former president of the country.

“Nawaz Sharif runs abroad but we have to stay in the country … they run away after bankrupting the country, leaving us to take care of it afterwards.”

On Friday, Zardari had said that any government formed without the involvement of his party will not be able to sustain itself. The former president added that he will not let the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) form a government in the upcoming polls and referred to the recent ‘cornering’ of the ruling party in the Senate polls.
