Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who has acted as a provocative figure when it comes to relations between Pakistan and India, has stoked up another controversy where he wants them to cut off all ties with their neighbours.

Gambhir was quoted by ANI saying an all-round boycott should be done with Pakistan.

“Merely boycotting cricketing ties with Pakistan will not help. If a ban is imposed, it should be in all sectors, be it films, music or any other. Nobody from Pakistan should be provided an opportunity to perform in India unless the relations between the two neighbours improve,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir urged his country to be stricter in matters relating to Pakistan.

“In the recent past we have initiated talks with Pakistan on many occasions but no substantial outcome has been achieved. Every country has its own level of patience and importance. First thing, of course, is to talk. But if that doesn’t work, one has to take strict action,” said Gambhir.

Indian opener’s statements come after the 36-year-old was involved in a Twitter spat with former Pakistan T20I captain Shahid Afridi when the latter urged the United Nations to interfere and stop the use of force on civilians by the Indian Army in Kashmir.
