Mohammad Amir reveals aim for 2019 World Cup

Pacer happy to represent Pakistan first time ever in 50-over extravaganza

Pakistan’s Muhammad Amir is excited to be part of the 2019 ICC World Cup and wishes to be the tournament’s best bowler.

This is the first time Amir would be a part of the World Cup squad, having missed the 2015 extravaganza after being suspended from all forms of cricket following his involvement in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal.

Looking to make up for lost time, the 26-year-old has said that it would be a dream come true for him to don the green of Pakistan at the World Cup.

“It’s a dream for any cricketer to play in the World Cup,” he said. “It will be my first World Cup and I will try to do my best. It’s like a dream come true. Representing your country and playing in a big ICC tournament, one has to be lucky for all this and I consider myself just that.”

Talking about how important it is to remain fit to participate in the the World Cup, Amir said: “Players prepare for two to four years to play in such a big event but then get injured just before the tournament. We have a good rotation policy and that’s why I’m well prepared for the tournament.”

And on his aims for the mega event, Amir said: “It’s such a big event. First of all I wish Pakistan win and then that I should be the best bowler in the tournament.”
