PESHAWAR: As the youth bulge, and the corresponding unemployment burden increases, universities have been urged to play their role in offering “affordable and relevant training and learning opportunities to the students”.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while addressing the inaugural ceremony for the newly established engineering academic block at the Abasyn University and a job fair at the varsity in Peshawar on Thursday.

He added that universities need to further strengthen their collaborative efforts in providing better training.

“Indeed, institutions of higher learning have to struggle on a constant basis for creating a better skilled force for the country,” Jhagra said.

“I am convinced that by working together in a concerted manner, we can build a bright tomorrow for the generations to come.”

The governor, who is also the patron for the private sector universities in the province, also advised the youth to seek the right education, skill and training and ensure better jobs in the future.

He also urged business leaders to invest in the young generation and provide them with the right training, noting that this investment would pay them handsome dividends in the future.
