Water shortage

The problem of water shortage in Karachi has aggravated and no one at the helm of affairs seems to pay heed

KARACHI: The Sindh government, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and the local city administration have once again failed this city. Different areas of Karachi have been facing an acute shortage of water for months now.

The problem of water shortage in Karachi has aggravated and no one at the helm of affairs seems to pay heed to the acute water shortage. Water much like food is crucial to human existence. Karachiites have been left at the mercy of tanker mafia who charge the consumers Rs3,000-Rs8,000 per water tanker. However, the rates for water tankers vary in different localities.

It is about time that the government paid attention to the water shortage and ensured adequate supply of clean and potable water in the city because it is not possible for residents who are not wealthy like the ones living in posh areas to afford water tankers or bore wells.
