LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) expressed concern over the government’s failure to take concrete measures in deciding pending cases related to salaries of those police officials who died during their services.

PPP legislator Mian Khurram Jahangir strongly condemned the negligence on the part of the government department(s) which deals with salaries and pensions. To this end, he submitted an adjournment motion in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

He contended that there were over 400 pending cases of police officials who died during their services, but nothing was done for their families and children.

He submitted that the department concerned had completely failed in issuing the salaries for widows who were facing serious financial problems since their husbands died. He added that the widows were not even able to pay the school fee of their children.

He expressed his dismay, saying that the IGP police had constituted a policy for those who died during their services, but nobody bothered to implement it.
