International Books Day: call for establishing more libraries in Balochistan

Tourism and Archive secretary says only reading books can educate society

QUETTA: Tourism and Archive Secretary Zafar Ali Buledi has stressed the need to read books to develop an educated society, saying that knowledge of history and modern techniques can only be obtained through books.

“Despite having a strong influence of internet in our lives, books still hold more importance,” said Buledi while addressing an International Books Day ceremony conducted by the Tourism Department and Balochia Publishers on Monday.

He said, “Book reading is the only source through which society can be educated.”

He stressed upon the need to build more libraries in the city so that youngsters could engage in reading books.

“The Tourism and Archive Department has plans to establish more libraries in Balochistan on modern lines,” said Buledi.

On the occasion, senior publisher Major (retd) Nazar Hussain Zamurd and Bahram Baloch said that the state was responsible for providing latest educational facilities to citizens.

“We have to establish more libraries in our province in order to push our youngsters towards reading books,” they added.
