Sania Mirza, Shoaib Malik announce first pregnancy in true sports fashion

The tennis star earlier revealed that they want a daughter

Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik announced that they are expecting their first child in the cutest Twitter post ever.

The pair took to their respective social media accounts and posted an illustration of a locker room, stating their surnames.

Earlier, Sania stated that she would want a daughter whenever she decides to start a family. She then said she would want her child's surname to be 'Mirza Malik'.

"Today I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about ti and we have decided that whenever we a child, the child will have Mirza Malik as a surname," explained the tennis star during a panel discussion on 'gender bias' at the Goa Fest 2018. "So that's where we stand as a family including my husband. He actually wants a daughter."

In a press release, Shoaib expressed joy, “We are obviously very excited to enter this new phase of our lives. We have been thinking about it for a while and look forward to our journey as parents."

Sania added, “We are soon to become parents. Having thought about it for a while, we both felt right now is the correct time to start a family."

Earlier this week, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput also announced their second pregnancy in an adorable post.

The couple took an innovative route to announce Mira’s pregnancy with an Instagram picture of their first-born daughter Misha lying beside a drawing of balloons with ‘Big Sister’ written along with it.
