Opening soon: Two more schools for transgender persons

LAHORE: After a successful launch in Lahore, the founder of the Gender Guardian has announced to open two more schools for transgender persons in Karachi and Islamabad with an objective to provide 12 years of academic education (from primary to higher secondary level).

Asif Shahzad, the founder of the Gender Guardian, said the school in Lahore has started imparting education to around 40 transgender students with its 15 faculty members.

The school was started with the help of Exploring Future Foundation, a non-governmental organisation. Shahzad said there was no age limit for admission in the school.

He said that most of the transgender students had expressed their interest in fashion industry including learning about cosmetics, fashion designing, embroidery and stitching while some had also shown interest in graphic designing and culinary skills.
